A Scenario of Struggle and Example of our Program Process

Robert calls the Lighthouse.


He is an Edmonton Firefighter who is on short-term disability dealing with a diagnosis of PTSD after many years of exposure to traumatic events while on duty and attending typical scenario’s firefighters need to deal with everyday.

His coping skills are compromised, he is drinking a lot and mixing alcohol with his prescription medication.

He sees his therapist once a week for an hour, and his Dr. who once a month who is monitoring his medication.

He is depressed and spends most of his days sleeping or watching television.

His partner is struggling with the mood swings and considering a divorce.

He feels hopeless and worthless and so instead of working to improve his situation he falls deeper into his depression, his flashbacks are stronger as his stress level goes up, he is contemplating suicide.



First step: An initial assessment and road map for the 30 day journey is created together with the program coordinator. Recovery goals, short term and long- term goals will be crafted.


Sample day:

- Morning trauma informed yoga, together with the rest of the group

- One on One coaching to address gains and losses from the previous day, intention for today will be set

- Acupuncture session

- Lunch

- Sensory Deprivation Tank Session

- Session with a Grief Recovery Specialist

- Subconscious Imprinting Technique session

- Reiki

- Group Meditation


Next day sample:

- Morning trauma informed yoga, together with the rest of the group

- One on One coaching to address gains and losses from the previous day, intention for today will be set

- Hypnotherapy Session

- Lunch

- Spiritual Release Therapy

- Session with the nutritionist

- Massage

- Equine Therapy Session

- Group Meditation
